I’ve had my hands on the Precise Art brushes by I’ve had my hands on the Precise Art brushes by @jamesllewis for a while but I was working on smaller paintings that just weren’t the right fit for them. The brushes are large (compared to my usual) and required a much bigger canvas space to see them in action. My paintings for my upcoming New York show provided the perfect playground for them. The Precise Brush is basically exactly what the name suggests. A brush that helps you pull long, controlled, and precise brush strokes. They are made from Kolinsky Sable hair, thus perfect to hold much more paint for flowing lines that will easily achieve a smooth paint finish. Kolinsky brushes are widely used by watercolor artists but James has designed this set to work perfectly with fluid acrylics which was great for me. It’s partially the reason I’ve lusted after them for a long time. The other reason was that they were just super stylish and sexy. I have a large collection of liner brushes but I don’t normally use Kolinsky brushes for my work. My go-to is Golden Synthetic liner brushes. Especially for the black paint as it’s much thicker than the colors. However, the Precise brushes are special. I consider them premium brushes and, as such they are more durable than regular paintbrushes. The fine-pointed tip allows for very detailed work, yet the long, soft hair helps enormously with maintaining a consistent flow of color and filling in large areas on the canvas without reloading. Even after my heavy use of it, the brush so far seems to retain its fine point and structure. I will probably keep using it on all the new paintings for the upcoming New York show so I will report further but for now, they are as elegant as they are fierce and deliver great results. I’m going to spend the coming months working on I’m going to spend the coming months working on commissions and preparing my art show in New York later this year. While working on new painting ideas, I watched all the videos I shot last year when I was working on that very same show. I have so much unused footage and I realized that I hadn’t edited or posted any of it.
